Had an engine similar to this one that had been sitting and not run for awhile. Was smoking bad when got it running. Found out that there are rubber seals on intake valves that had dried out. The seals were under valve spring retainers. They go around valve stem on intake valve only. Takes a special spring compressor to disassemble valve spring.

Hello to you and Carolyn again, I was thinking (uh-oh) and got to wondering (not knowing just HOW rural your homestead is,) if you've ever seen anything around your property that you can't explain... I'll be sure to come back to this video, to see what you say, but I've been watching a UA-cam channel for several years now, that is just a guy reading emails people send him about their own encounters with things they don't recognize or can't explain. These encounters are mostly suspected Sasquatch sightings, some are first-hand, eyes-on sightings, and some fewer still are very involved paranormal experiences. The man, Steve Isdahl, has been a hunting and fishing guide all over North America, for over 20 years, and he has had several sightings of the big hairy man in recent years. He mentioned it one day, on his show, and the emails started flooding in. He's been reading them without screening or censorship, for the last 5+ years, now. The truth is in the repetition of the same events, and I have learned more about them than I ever thought to wonder about. No, I'm not crazy, but I'm also not stupid enough to deny the assertions of thousands of eyewitnesses who swear they have seen them, and even interacted with them. The things I have learned would make most people think I'm a nut for believing them, but I'm not so familiar with every single thing in creation, that I can call thousands of people liars... it's a truly fascinating thing to learn about. But, if you've ever seen or heard something weird, and you don't mind sharing... I'll be back to check for your response. If you don't want to, or feel uncomfortable sharing, just say no. I can take it. Lol

I remember my dad checking the spark on the plug with a chainsaw and all of a sudden the saw turned into a blow torch. 🤣 It must've had fuel still in the cylinder because it ignited.

Back in the day, repairing any lawn mower was expensive and you had to buy the parts from the manufacturer. That was long before the internet and being able to source your own stuff at a price point that won't break your wallet. One of the few things I like about computers and the internet......LOL
